Took a quick trip today for a change of scenery. The valley is great for gardening and all, but sometimes I miss the dimensions of the mountains. Fortunately, by driving north for 30 minutes and then driving east for 60 minutes, we are able to enter a wonderfully different world in Lassen Volcanic National Park.
We brought some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, a mug of coffee and a Diet Coke, a few potato chips and we sat on the truck’s tailgate while looking at this world! I love the silence of the snow.

I hope everyone is staying safe and sound.
What a beat place to connect with nature, great photos.

Compared to Yosemite, Lassen seems almost empty…but it is very beautiful and with lots geological features. One could spend a lifetime up there and learn something. Oh, and the stars on a clear night are just so bright.

Beautiful images! They made me think of how I’m going to miss the views, geographical and historical lessons I’d experience when we’d drive further up into more northern parts of the state for partnership site visits for work.

It looks beautiful and serene and cold Gary. Hope your day out did you good 🙂

Love that air up there. It is really one of the least visited parks in the U.S., no crowds, really laid back.

A very different world indeed… and remarkably close to home. I’m so glad we don’t get snowbanks like those anymore! 😉

Love the snow, but also enjoy driving on clear roads and not shoveling the driveway!

Great photos, Gary. Those icicles hanging from the roof could have easily been a picture of my roof four weeks ago. It is nice to get away from the daily routine.
