Took a short drive to the west of us, about 20 minutes from the house, to see if the local lake was beginning to fill up. Black Butte Lake is where we get our water to irrigate the pasture.

So pretty out there, I kept driving for another 10 minutes.

Drove by the place that inspired the painter who painted this picture that hangs in our house, a gift from our children.

Came to the end of the pavement. The next 12 miles would be gravel. Not today.

What a lovely Sunday drive, I’m glad the lake is nearly full, that’s good news for your area. What great photos and the Mendocino mountain range is stunning.

Happy New Year Laura. Yes, I want to get to know the Mendocino Range better this year, hopefully though taking more photos of the area. I spent most of my youth in in the foothills of and in the Sierra Nevada range. Very different geology and geography.

A beautiful painting, a lovely gift!
I love seeing the landscape all greened up. Glad the reservoir is filling, may it fill to the brim. 🙂

Yes, until late spring and then the grasses all turn brown to golden-ish.
