While walking along the beach today, this evil little sand shadow tried to bite the back of my heel. (Had no idea that ice plants were considered invasive along the entire stretch of California’s coastline. Introduced from South Africa and is harmful to the natural habitat.)
Evil little.plant, the shadow looks like a little gremlin lol

I know! Often I will turn my photos upside down to see what might be there. A quick little road trip to Morro Bay Area. Cambria is a cool little town. Paso Robles has a great downtown area. San Simeon beach/pier also great places. The Central California Coast is quite different from the Northern portions.

Sounds wonderful, I love little towns that are unique. Years ago a friend and drove to the Del Coronado the area around it was like a fairytale town, so much fun.

Clever sighting, Gary… these gremlins hide in plain sight!
Yes, ice plants sure are pretty, but invasives get that way by tempting our eye to their beauty. A bit like Pandora’s box.

Nasty little bite when they get you in your Achilles. (I guess they were introduced for soil erosion but actually made it worse.)
