Flower picking today around the yard!

Last fall I put in some very small chrysanthemums out by the front orchard. They grew very well. Going to put in 16 more this fall.

Autumn colors!

Those mums are huge! I’d say they did VERY well. 🙂 Did you shear them early on or is that mounding natural?
Your bouquets are beautiful!

Last fall I went to Home Depot and bought 10 3 inch pots to see how they might do. They never stopped growing. I did not prune them down and a few bloomed earlier but seem like they are now going to bloom again. I have them on drip irrigation so they get daily steady water and these are growing in a combo that includes walnut shells that have decomposed for two years now, but they really grow well in other areas too. I would guess that they are 18” -24” tall and nearly 36” wide. I also like them because they are bad ass to to the weeds. I have few yellow ones that really the largest and really pretty. Going to plant more this week and redo the drip lines!

Beautiful flowers, the bushes look like bouquets themselves! My sister grows zinnias, they are so colorful like mums, I love large flowers they are always full of bumble bees and other interesting insects, great for a photographer. Looking forward to seeing your garden with the additional flowers.

Oh yes, Zinnias! That was what we grew most this year. They have powdery mildew now but the flowers are still pretty. Many different colors! I am planting the next set of mums by the olive trees. I planted 14 little olive trees three years ago and they are about 4 feet tall now.
