Love those grasses! I forget that your trees go dormant, but of course, they do!

I really like the grasses too and I like how they choke out the weeds! Yes, we’ve planted quite a few trees hoping for a little fall color. Chinese Pistachios do really well in the north valley, I had a couple die that I planted but still trying, along with some maple varieties. The Virginia Creeper is getting big enough and showing some beautiful color too.

I was eating pistachios today and wondered if you grew them, along with other nuts. I think you mentioned walnuts once? I have 2 pecans I planted ages ago, yet still no fruit. Your climate is better suited, methinks!

No pistachios…yet. They grow a lot of them out here though, uses a lot less water than almonds and walnuts- but those are by far the two biggest orchard types. Down the road there is a very mature and beautiful pecan orchard. Love the tree. Some folks are putting in pomegranates because they require a lot less water and do really well too. I just picked the final ones yesterday and they were really ripe and sweet!

I’m envious… I eat loads of fruit and nuts, and would love to harvest my own, but MA is not the climate for them, alas.
