The new deck that covers up the aggregate concrete patio is nearly completed. The contractor and his crew did a great job especially with all the angles. It was nearly 100 degrees today and the decking stayed relatively cool.

Looking into French doors to replace the sliding doors leading onto the deck. Not sure if we have the room for them to open properly though.
And, a Mother’s Day gift is a very nice addition to the gazebo… a lamp.

Oh how beautiful, and it’s ready for your Mother’s Day gathering. What a great place to sit and have a meal and connect with nature. I hope the French doors work out, they’d be amazing. Congratulations!

There is something about being just a litter bit above ground level. In Paradise we had a nice balcony one story above the ground and a huge redwood deck off the back and our bedroom. It felt like you were sailing on a boat. I loved it so much. This reminds me how important it is to change your point of view occasionally….We celebrated Mother’s Day on Saturday and it was such a nice meal and time. Lots of yummy desserts. Happy Mother’s Day to you!

Awww….it’s spectacular Gary! I’m sure your wife is happy and you should be too! Maybe the French doors could be set to open inward, instead of outward? Love this!!!

Thank you, Barb. I was slow to understand why the deck would be better than the aggregate patio (except I hated walking barefoot on it with my dainty and delicate feet) but I really like sitting out there now. Bridget has her early morning cup/s of coffee out there now. Makes a nice transition to the yard…. Our family room is really kind of laid out funky, so our chairs are usually by the sliding glass door, leaving no room for French doors to open. But, where there’s a will, there’s a way, right?

A deck just has a good feel to it Gary and it’s easier on the feet! I would do the same as Bridget and there is always a way. Lol

Yes, spaces! Taken me a lifetime to understand how precious our special spaces are in our lives. (However, the vast majority of our rural neighbors think we’re out of our minds. )

Sometimes I am not even sure they’re even up to “small” thinking. The stories I could tell. Did I ever tell you how popular “cock fighting” is out here?
